I actually heard this live during the British Open... but for an SI writer to catch it, and actually make a Mystery Science Theater 3000 reference on top of it.....

the guy who wrote that is an amazing geek. I mean, to celebrate getting an obscure reference like that... to want to announce to the world that you're in on a joke just kind of implies that it doesn't happen very often.
